About the event
Nicole Heker will be back for this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop! We’ll explore how to grow a diverse and resilient herb garden suited to your space, whether you have a backyard, a few raised beds, or just a sunny corner. You’ll be guided through the foundational principles of growing medicinal plants, with a focus on working with your environment rather than against it.
We’ll cover:
How to choose the right herbs for your climate, light, and soil
The difference between annuals, biennials, and perennials—and how to plan your garden around them
Where to place herbs based on sun and shade patterns
Seed starting vs. direct sowing (and what actually matters for success)
Simple soil-building practices for healthy, potent plants
When and how to harvest herbs for medicine
Drying methods and proper storing for longevity and quality!
We’ll also spend time “meeting the plants”—getting to know a selection of foundational medicinal herbs, their growing habits, and how they can support your health and home.
This workshop is designed to leave you feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to begin!
