How it works
Apply for your own plot
We offer garden plots for rent on a “pay as you can” basis for community members to grow food for themselves and their families. We provide tools and equipment, water, compost, and plenty of guidance and support for our gardeners.
Have more questions? You can check out our FAQs or email us at programs@alandaycommunitygarden.org.
Get support
If you’re new to gardening our community partners at Oxford County Cooperative Extension Office will match you with a Garden Mentor. Let them know you have a plot at the Community Garden and they will be sure to offer non-chemical, organic solutions to your gardening challenges.
Email them at extension.oxford@maine.edu or call them at (207)743-6329 to get connected with a volunteer in the Master Gardener program.
Enjoy the benefits
Community gardens are popping up all across the country and around the world as people discover the benefits of community gardens.
Beyond the obvious perks of enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables, community gardens can:
-
Bring together people who may not have otherwise connected and revitalize community.
-
Increase access to organic produce that people may otherwise be unable to afford.
-
Teach younger generations the importance of sustainability and protecting nature.
-
Reduce levels of stress and increase wellbeing through access to greenspace.
