By purchasing a Garden Share at the Community Garden, you are investing in our local youth, in organic and sustainable growing practices, and in the revitalization of Norway’s Downtown. And best yet, you are investing in your own health by eating delicious, organic, and fresh produce. Cheers to that!
Our Garden Share program is an opportunity for people to access nutritious, chemical-free food at a discount from typical retail prices, to connect with the Alan Day Community Garden (ADCG) and support the Youth Leadership Program by purchasing a “share” of the season’s harvest.
While sharing in the risk of any growing season (mainly weather related), the purchaser of a Garden Share can feel confident that they will receive the full value of their investment by the end of the season. The ADCG will strive to offer a steady variety of produce beginning with spring greens through the fall harvest. We also work together with other local growers, who sell or donate excess produce to us.
Items we typically offer include salad greens, summer and winter squash, carrots, cabbage, beets, tomatoes, kale, radishes, spinach, garlic, swiss chard, beet greens, basil, cilantro, thyme, peas, beans, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, flowers, berries, and fruit.
The program runs from June 26th through September 11th. Participants can pick up their shares at the ADCG, 26 Whitman Street in Norway, on Fridays from 5-7pm. We will also host a Community Market during pickup times, featuring live music, demos, other items for sale, and a pizza oven.
A Garden Share costs $175, is suitable for a family of 2-3 people, and consists of 12 harvest shares, provided weekly. We have 3 payment options:
Pay in Full: The full amount or at least a minimum deposit of $50 is due by May 15th to reserve your share, and any remainder is due on the first pickup.
Pay-Per-Share: Arrangements can be made for those who want to participate in the program, but prefer to pay on a weekly basis. A refundable deposit of $25 is due by May 15th, to reserve your share. The deposit will be returned at the end of the program.
SNAP EBT: We gladly welcome SNAP EBT to purchase Garden Shares. Payments will be made in-person, by the cardholder, at the time of pick up. A refundable deposit of $25 is due by May, to reserve your share. The deposit will be returned at the end of the program.
